While the country is having a heat wave, it really helped to keep everyone’s spirits up for the wedding of Sarah and Gareth at New House Country Hotel, Cardiff. The bride and groom, only from a few miles away in Llanishen, decided to wed at one of Wales’ best places for a view on your wedding day. This gorgeous hotel boasts the whole view of Cardiff and it’s bay. The wedding was a superb occasion for everyone who attended and such a wonderful atmosphere all day as the sun kissed on us all. Congratulations Mr & Mrs Stickler!
On Sunday, 20th November, at Oxwich Bay Hotel in the Gower, Swansea, seen the happy bride and groom, Sarah & Liam, tie the knot in front of all their friends.
Sarah, who I’ve known since primary school, was very relaxed in the lead up to her special moment, helped by the loving nature and fun personalities of her bridesmaids, Lauren (her sister), Hannah and Amy.
The boys on the other hand were also very calm throughout the morning, with Liam enjoying his time with his father and best men in a nearby room.
Oxwich Bay hosts some beautiful views, the couple were very lucky that on the day itself the weather was perfect. In the build up to the day the rain had been heavy but luckily as the sun came up the clouds started to disappear which allowed for some lovely pictures on the beach from the hotel.
As the main event started to edge near, it was the perfect time to capture some emotional moments with Sarah. You could see she was getting nervous but also excited to see Liam, the man of her dream.
The ceremony, as I expected, went with plenty of emotion and laughter. It was such a special occasion to be photographing this moment of their lives.
After the ceremony was over, it was time for some fun on the beach with the newly weds, and they delivered in style! Constantly smiling and laughing which is always lovely to see on people’s wedding day.
The best men’s speeches were also well received, especially with “The Roasting of Goatson” speech. It truly delivered before ending it with a lovely video montage of the happy couple.
I really can’t thank Mr & Mrs Goatson enough for allowing me to capture their wedding day. It was a truly remarkable experience and one that I will treasure for a long time. So thank you once again!
Owen & Aimée celebrated their wedding at the beautiful wedding venue Ty Glyn in Cilau Aeron, near Aberaeron on Saturday 29th October.
From the moment I arrived I knew this was going to be a special day. Aimée was very excited and so were her bridesmaids, Sioned, Cara and Claire. It’s always a lovely moment when you walk into the room where the bridal party is and they’re happily having fun.
The happy couple organised a football themed wedding which was very well executed. The invites to the wedding were actual match tickets. I thought this was a superb idea and totally different to what you would normally find.
Owen, the groom, is a huge football fan, And specifically an avid Wales football fan who follows the national team home and abroad.
The ceremony was a beautiful occasion which was presented in both Welsh and English. A very nice touch as the majority of the guests were Welsh speaking.
As the beautiful bridesmaids walked down the aisle, Owen was eagerly anticipating seeing his bride enter the room, and upon the first sight a glowing smile came across his face and a pure shot of emotion struck him, it’s always a joy to see this special moment in the ceremony.
The speeches made for an emotional moment of the day but also filled with laughter. Owen and Aimée’s dad both gave beautiful speeches regarding their son and daughter and the best men, Gaz and Huw had people laughing from the start.
The venue, Ty Glyn, boasts some lovely views in typical Welsh fashion of hills and green scenery. It really made for some fantastic photo opportunities around the grounds of the venue. I have to say, it’s always pleasing when I get a chance to work with bride and grooms like Owen and Aimée who were so easy going to photograph all day and were happy to do anything I asked for. It really has made for some striking images.
On Saturday 6th August, Rachael Morgan married her best friend and true love Dai Faulkner.
I have to admit I totally loved this wedding from the start of the early morning conversations with the bridesmaids. Stacey, Stacie, Katie, Linzi and Kacey were fantastic company and made me feel real welcome and had a giggle with me all throughout the day. I’ll leave the ham and cheese toastie pictures for another day ;).
As they helped the beautiful bride get ready, it took all the bridesmaids to tie up Rachael’s dress. Team work done to perfection.
Dai, who had 4 best men on the day, had a fantastic send off from them in their speeches, having the bride & groom in floods of laughter. Even though there was a few nerves with some of the best men, each and everyone one of them pulled it off, well done lads.
After the speeches were made, Dai performed a lovely solo song, Stevie Wonder – Knocks Me Off My Feet, on Piano which made his new wife emotional and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
You may recognise pictures of Dai Faulkner from the BBC talent show, The Voice. He wowed the judges, Danny O’Donoughe, Jessie J, Will.I.Am and Wales’ finest, Tom Jones on the show.
The couple finished off their photographs at Glyn Cornell lake.
Sunday, 17th July 2016, at Court Colman Manor House in Bridgend, saw the romantic wedding of Gerrard and Joanne.
With their family and friends surrounding them it was always going to be a joyous occasion with Joanne having 3 brides maids, Sophie, Angela and Joanne along with Olivia as Junior bridesmaid and Darcy as a flower girl, and Gerrard opting for his brother, Dave, as best man with Harvey (the couples son), Blake and Harrison as page boys.
The mornings weather had started off gloomy but this didn’t stop the spirit of the bridal party, as they enjoyed many of good laughs together and emotions all round.
Onto the ceremony, Gerrard was very emotional seeing his glowing bride walking down the isle to greet him. He shed a tear at how beautiful she looked and you could just see his heart melting for her. A very touching moment in the day’s proceedings.
Court Colman, which is situated in beautiful South Wales scenery of mountains and trees, was the perfect choice for this bride and groom. It has to be said about how well the staff were to me personally and the guests of this wedding.
I’d like to take this opportunity to wish Mr & Mrs Mickelsen a happy life together filled with as much love as they have for their family and each other.
Saturday, July 2nd 2016, Loren Thorne & Mark Davies married at the Maes Manor, Blackwood. Situated up a long steep hill off the main road, this beautiful Manor House has gorgeous views heading out over the valley and luckily the sun was shining throughout the day which allowed us to utilise this spectacular view.
I arrived at the venue for 7.30am to be greeted by emotional but excited bridesmaid, who were enjoying some early morning Prosecco to continue the fantastic mood that was ever present.
Loren had been nervous on the build up to her special moment but was in high spirits having her best friends around her. They certainly made me feel welcome and the conversations were like no other…i physically hurt from laughing all morning.
Once the groom arrived everyone in the room upstairs knew that time was running away with the day, it all got real and the laughter from emotions got more excitable.
The ceremony got underway with joy in the room, all their friends and family were in high spirits and really added to this special day.
The speeches from Marks best man and his dad were fun and gave Mark some blushes and plenty of moments with his head in hands, but he took it well. Loren’s dad, really rounded off how proud he was of her and how happy he was that Mark has been added to the family.
The evening guests had popular wedding band Devious perform for them and totally rocked up this wedding. Mark and Loren had met at a gig of theirs a few years back so seemed the best thing to do is have Devious send them into their married life with a bang!
I can’t thank Mark & Loren and the bridesmaids enough for making my day a memorable day too, and I just wish them every bit of success and a happy marriage for the rest of their lives.
I was very lucky on Sunday 1st November to do an engagement shoot in Glyn Cornell Lake, Rhondda valley.
The sunshine was beaming from the sky, the autumn leaves had fallen to the ground and Gerrard & Joanne were ready for some fun!
I’m going to be photographing this lovely couple at their wedding in July 2016 at Court Colman in Bridgend. I’m very much excited for this one. If the engagement shoot is anything to go by, I think we’re all in for a cracking day and night.
On Saturday 26th September 2015, I got asked to cover the Grooms morning before he headed off to Llechwen Hall, Pontypridd.
Lee Scott, local goalkeeping hero for Ynyshir Albions, was preparing to marry his sweetheart, Bethan Morgan, who was getting herself ready for the big day at the venue.
It started out with some very nervous groomsmen, even though they were convinced they were OK, I’d like to think the pictures tell a different story.
Bethan prepared a lovely book of special memories for Lee, in which the groom had to hold back his tears, and she also picked out a beautiful watch, the message attached was very much to the point but emotional which read “Here’s to make sure you get here on time”.
It was Lee’s best man who seemed the more nervous as the morning was going on however, pacing up and down as you’d expect a best man to do given the fact he has to perform his speech to perfection! Lee even had to dress him, surely this should be the other way around??
Getting the boys to walk in a line proved entertaining also, asking them to all look different ways, they all turned the same way except Scott Jones, the amount that he didn’t care is clear to see! Good move Scott, actually makes the picture look staged
And after my comment of “you all looked the same way” laughter broke out, this is probably my favourite picture of the year, the reason for this is it shows the boys character and how close they all are. Well done lads!
On Saturday 15th August at Dews Lake Farm in Lamphey, the beautiful campsite turned into a wedding venue like no other! The gorgeous Nakita & Jess held their wedding in a tepee on the grounds of the farm, which they’ve been attending since young children.
The beautiful brides enjoyed glorious sunshine for the day, something which their guests used to the maximum!
Nakita & Jess decorated the venue themselves, leaving no corner unturned. There was beautiful hand made bunting, stunning local suppliers and guests that made you feel so welcome, you’d want to do it all again next weekend.
As the photos suggest, this wedding supplied fun, love and laughter all day.
Enjoy the rest of your lives and congratulations again on your special day
On a beautiful Sunday morning on August 2nd, the recently newly weds Beth and Phil got their wedding outfits back on for a photoshoot in their home of Pontypridd.
Beth and Phil had a fantastic wedding at Lyde Court in Hereford, and it was fantastic to speak with them again about their special day. You can find pics from their wedding by clicking here.
